Tailored Audio. Maximum Music, Minimum Risks.

Every ear is unique.

Each individual ear has its own unique audio profile. Some need more bass, others need more treble. Some may even need boosts in several different frequency ranges.

But your headphones don’t know that. They are one-size-fits-all products that assume everybody has the exact same hearing. It has been simply impossible for audio products to tailor sound to each ear’s unique sensitivity – until now.

AUMEO accurately measure each person’s audio profile, or Aumeogram, and then provide clinically verified Tailored Audio to maximize audio enjoyment and safety for each and every ear. In short, AUMEO’s patented technology is ready to vastly improve your audio life by customising your audio products to your unique hearing.

Tailored Audio is superior

To understand why, we first need to understand what is lacking in today’s one-size-fits-all audio experiences.

You will get it right away if you wear glasses. Remember the moment you put on a pair of glasses prescribed specifically for your vision? You had no idea what you are missing until that “aha moment”. In one instant, the world suddenly became beautiful, made possible by “Tailored Vision”!

This applies to hearing as well – you can see the same aha reaction when people experience AUMEO’s Tailored Audio for the first time. Frankly, seeing this reaction never gets old for us. This alone is enough to keep us getting out of our beds and going to work every day!

So why is the world of audio still one-size-fits-all?

Reason #1: Most people don’t understand hearing

Hearing is difficult for us humans to understand and measure. We assume everyone hears exactly the same way, because everyone around us react to the same sounds together. This experience lead us to conclude that hearing is universal.

However that’s only half the truth. The fact is that the presence of hearing is universal, but the quality of hearing is not. Ears are biological organs, like our eyes or finger prints. People we encounter in our daily lives have eyes and finger prints (the presence), but each one is unique (the quality).

Not only do we assume everyone hears the same way, we also cannot detect the degradation over time of our own hearing very well. With vision, you can tell your eyesight is getting worse because you can’t read that far-away sign anymore. With sound, it’s impossible to objectively tell if you can catch all the notes without an actual hearing test.

What’s more, poor vision impacts daily lives severely and practically forces you to seek help, while poor hearing is not at all in-your-face. At least not until it’s really bad. That’s why people don’t think about Tailored Audio, and one-size-fits-all audio is so prevalent.

Reason #2: The audio industry hasn’t pushed the concept of Tailored Audio

It’s not that they don’t understand everyone hears differently, but since the customers don’t realize this (see Reason #1) there is no economic reason to do it. It also doesn’t help that there are a lot of technical difficulties to solve for Tailored Audio to be feasible. (Yes you guessed it – AUMEO has solved all these problems. You can read all about them here.)

Why the world needs Tailored Audio

But wait – if no one knows to ask for Tailored Audio, then maybe no one needs it. Right? Actually quite the contrary – what you don’t know really can hurt you. There are 2 general problems with one-size-fits-all audio:

Problem #1: You are not getting all the sound you need.

Unless your audio is tailored to your unique hearing, you are bound to be losing details
Unless your audio is tailored to your unique hearing, you are bound to be losing details

Your music sounds muffled and unclear because your ears are less sensitive to certain sounds.

Details are lost. The sound stage (i.e. where the instruments are positioned in a sound track) is messed up, all because the audio perceived by your ears’ unique sensitivities is unbalanced.

The perceived distorted audio may also be giving you listening fatigue as you strain to hear the nuances.

B. You are damaging your hearing.

You crack up the volume to hear the missing details, but that makes the tones you could hear before overpowering
You crack up the volume to hear the missing details, but that makes the tones you could hear before overpowering

When you can’t hear the details, you’ll turn up the volume. Sometimes you do it unconsciously.

But that means the parts you could hear well before are now too loud, damaging your most irreplaceable audio gear – your ears. This causes hearing loss overtime, which hurts your ability to enjoy your favorite hobby in later years. The World Health Organization estimates 1.1 billion teens and young adults are at risk of hearing loss because of improper use (read: too loud!) of audio products.

AUMEO’s Aumeogram and Tailored Audio work hand in hand to let you enjoy full audio at lower volumes. Together with the Mobile & Wireless Forum, we conducted a clinical trial to prove that AUMEO can provide clearer sound and speech recognition at a lower total volume. The results were accepted and published in EAR and HEARING, the official journal of the American Auditory Society.

Happy Hearing!
